Our general order processing times are between 2-4 business days.
During sale or launch periods this can be delayed by up to 5 days.
That being said whilst we may look big we are still a very small family business with a very small team. When our warehouse team member is sick or us or our kids are sick we aren't always able to keep up! We ask for your patience and support if your order is a little delayed. We hope to one day grow enough to have a larger team and have our warehouse staffed full time!
If your order hasn't been dispatched and it is outside these times please contact us at [email protected]
Short answer no.
Long answer oil residue can cling to silicone meaning they can start to smell and taste a little like the soap they are washed with!
Our biggest tips for preventing this to begin with are:
- Use an unscented dishwashing tablet or dish soap. The aldi unscented tabs are great.
- Don't go overboard with dish soap. A little goes a long way.
- Top rack of the dishwasher tends to be better than the bottom
- If you are serving a particularly oily food, ensure you give the dishes a deep clean with boiling water or high temperature dish washing cycle.
If your plates and bowls do start to smell / taste of soap you can easily remove it with the following techniques:
- Mix 2 cups of boiling hot water and 1 cup white vinegar (make more using this same ratio if needed). Soak plates and bowls for 30 minutes and then scrub well and rinse before use.
- Boil in a saucepan for 30 minutes.
- Give the plates and bowls an acid bath by rubbing with lemon / lime, or baking soda paste (baking soda and vinegar) allow this to sit on the products for 2-3 hours. Rinse well before use.
- Silicone can also be baked in the oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes to burn off the residue. We recommend this as a last resort as the silicone can discolour in the oven.
Unfortunately yes.
To this day there is no safe method to seal silicone that has been approved by the FDA so whilst certain brands may advertise "stain resistant" as a benefit, all silicone is just as stain resistant as each other.
Our products are beautiful, light, aesthetic colours which means they can be susceptible to stains if food is left sitting on the plates. This is generally only an issue with very pigmented foods like carrot, pumpkin or butter chicken and when they are left on the plates.
When serving particularly pigmented foods we recommend rinsing the dishes immediately after use.
If stains do occur then make a paste out of bicarb and vinegar, apply it to the stain and leave it to sit in the sun for a few hours. The stains should fade right out.
