Carrot Cake Weet-Bix Balls

Carrot Cake Weet-Bix Balls in blue Suckie Scoop Plate - Starting Solids Australia recipe.

We all know that Weet-Bix is one of my favourite breakfasts out there. Its a wholegrain, full of fibre and other important vitamins, and fortified with iron. Its a pretty great allrounder for babies but we know variety is important for babes so finding exciting new ways to serve it is great to mix things up.

Age Recommendation - 9m + The sticky texture of these balls is a hard texture for younger babies. Without developed oral motor skills it could ball up in the mouth.

"I would never have thought to make weetbix into a ball. My little girl loves these" - Tanie (Baby Mumma)

Carrot Cake Weet-Bix Balls

Ingredients

  • 2 Weet-Bix biscuits
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup finely grated carrot
  • 1-2 tbsp boiled water

Directions

  • Put Weet-Bix, carrot and cinnamon into a bowl.
  • Add hot water and milk until the Weet-Bix has softened enough to mix.
  • Mix all ingredients together until combined
  • Roll into balls. 2 Weet-Bix makes 4 balls.

There is no end to the variation of these you can make! Weetbix works with both sweet and savoury flavours. Other favourited of ours are pumpkin pie (mashed pumpkin + mixed spice), banana bread (mashed banana + nutmeg), raspberry cheesecake (mashed raspberries + ricotta).
