The Encounter Throughout the Hotlands, you’ll meet Mettaton in different scenarios, like a Quiz Show and a Cooking Show. Eventually, you’ll face Mettaton EX after flipping the switch on his back. He’ll engage you in a battle where ratings play a key role. The goal is to raise those ratings to 10,000 by surviving his attacks and using strategic actions.
Neutral/True Pacifist Route Mettaton EX’s fight isn’t overly difficult but can feel long. You’ll stay in the Yellow Soul mode, and he’ll attack with leg kicks and small Mettaton bots. Avoid his projectiles and shoot his heart when exposed. Eating branded food or taking damage increases the ratings. Once the ratings reach 10,000, the battle ends, but his limbs can also fall off to expedite victory.
Alternative Neutral Route You can also defeat Mettaton by lowering the ratings. Avoid branded food, use Junk Food, or even write a curse word during the Essay section to reduce ratings. This method results in Mettaton’s death and is not advised for True Pacifist players.
Genocide Route In this route, Mettaton becomes Mettaton NEO. However, the fight is cut short—one attack from Chara instantly kills him, making it a brief encounter.
