Hi Felicity,
One bowel movement isn’t any cause for concern. Has it been ongoing? Any further issues with bowel movements since then?
Thanks

Hey Melissa,
Yes that sounds like a great way to go! I would recommend holding off offering the egg again until you have seen the GP. It’s also helpful to have pictures of the reactions too so if she still has them snap a few pics for the GP!

Hey Lauren! Sorry I missed this post! How’s it going now?
Have you seen any improvement?
For some peace of mind this is totally normal for this age and they can flit in and out of food refusal from week to week.
We can certainly discuss in a consult however we are also creating toddler content for the library currently which will hopefully ease your mind too!

It can be so worrying for us when they gag like this! It is very normal to see gagging such as this with new textures at such a young age. I wouldn’t be concerned just yet. He is so young and it’s all completely new to him. If the gagging is happening with every mouthful I would pull back on that particular texture for now but certainly don’t let it deter you from trying again in a week or so.
If it persists over the coming months and doesn’t improve at all I would check in with the GP to see if you can get a referral to a speech pathologist however. As bubs grow the gag reflex moves back on the tongue and is less easily triggered so if this doesn’t occur it’s worth looking into it for peace of mind.

Hey Michael,
None of those foods are high allergen foods so they could be all offered at the same time. It’s really only the 9 main allergen foods that we would recommend introducing separately!
Thanks!

Hey Melanie,
There is no one correct portion size for all babies. If your little one is indicating she wants more then I would recommend offering it. We don’t recommend restricting or limiting intake at all. Have a read of some of the resources in the library on responsive feeding! I think that will help explain the reasoning behind it for you!
Thanks,
Jeanette

We certainly don’t recommend limiting their food intake at all. If snack is just fruit you may want to consider adding a source of protein and fats to these snacks which may provide a bit more sustenance! Perhaps some yogurt or nut butter etc. As the grown up you are in charge of what foods get offered and what quantities are offered. Your little one is in charge of what she chooses to eat.

Hey! Dried fruits aren’t something we would recommend everyday but as an option every now and then they are totally fine!

Hi Nicole,
The raw apple would definitely concern me. Perhaps a gentle reminder to the centre voicing your concerns regarding the choking hazard and also suggest grated is a more appropriate way to serve for this age.
As for the chocolate cake. I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If this is an everyday menu item I’d probably be concerned. A lot of centres also make “chocolate” cake or treats from things that aren’t actually chocolate. I’d just bring it up with the centre in a respectful way and voice your concerns and see what they say.

Hi Kimberley!
Apologies we missed this thread! How’s it going now? At that age I would have suggested dropping to one meal!

Hi Cheryl!
Do you mean only those vegetables at all meals or just at one meal?

Hi Dani,
Apologies we missed this one!
Throwing food is completely normal at this stage! The best thing we can do is not give it a reaction! A lot of people suggest that this may be a sign of fullness however it’s not really one I would end the meal based off.
I would give it 3-4 chances and generally avoid picking the food up and putting it back as it really becomes a game when we do this and exacerbates the issue!
