What we like:
- Sodium within the recommended guidelines- The sodium is 274mg per 100g and we are aiming for less than 400mg per 100g. However this is still pretty high for a SWEET biscuit.
- Texture- texture wise these are pretty easy for older babies and toddlers to handle.
What we like less:
- Lower in fibre than we would like- it only has 2.8g per serve and we would like to see it above 3g.
- Total Fat- is 11g per 100g which is higher than the recommended 10g or less per 100g. The Saturated Fat is also 5.4g per 100g when we want it below 3g.
- It is high in sugar with 22.2g per 100g. We ideally want less than 15g to keep it in the low to moderate range (less than 5g per 100g is low and less than 15g is moderate). For a pretty bland and not overly sweet biscuit this isn't ideal.
The Take Home:
Overall, this is a pretty low nutrient filler option that is high in salt, sugar and fat. If you are going to offer them you could add some toppings like cream cheese and fruit or nut butters or serve it alongside other foods as part of a snack. Not something we would be choosing as an everyday option for kids.
